SLX SF 401 VOID REAPER FIGHTER

Issued to front line units over the past months the Voidreaper has proven to be an outstanding dogfighter. An unlikely mix of hyper-advanced and basic systems integrated so successfully that the resulting fighter surpassed the designers specifications by as much as 60% in some areas. Simple Borg/Warner BWe09a Thrust bottles are paired with an advanced electromagnetic steering and channelling to give superior manoeuvring and speed. Scanning and Target lock systems are classified while the flight controls are described as intuitive. Each engine/weapon pod houses a single “Long Lance” hard laser which has explosive rather than a cutting or melting action. 3 High powered Particle beamers and 2 Missile launchers each holding 5 rounds per tube more than doubling the load carried by the Broadsword. Either or both pods can be jettisoned in case of damage and the central cockpit complete with hyper drive can be used as a lifeboat, abet a heavily armed one with 4 Rapid fire lasers in the nose. The Reapers key weapon system are the side mounted Scythe turrets. Each is equipped with twin high energy particle cannons in a flexible mounting that can rotate up to 30 degrees in the vertical and 10 degrees left and right. This means the pilot with the aid of a heads up display doesn’t have to aim the whole craft at the target to fire at it.
